The Spirit of Freedom (SoF) Recreational Reconnaissance (R2 Program) is a complementary initiative that supports our flagship program, The SoF Fellowship Program. designed to help SOF veterans rediscover purpose, connection, and clarity through mission-inspired outdoor experiences. Rooted in the ethos of elite military reconnaissance, each activity—whether golf, fishing, climbing, diving or backcountry exploration—serves as a personal recon mission and  a chance to recalibrate, reflect, and reignite a sense of direction. Anchored by the ethos of strength, resilience, and freedom, the program offers themed recon activities under a unified, community brand that fosters camaraderie and reflection. Through curated events and fellowships, participants engage in meaningful outdoor challenges while forging bonds that last far beyond the activity itself. The whiskey barrel–inspired emblem and the “SoF” identity embody a rugged reverence for service, adventure, and the pursuit of a life well-lived.

What sets Recreational Recon apart is its integration of seasoned professional mentors—leaders from business, entrepreneurship, and the public and private sectors—who participate shoulder-to-shoulder with veterans. These mentors help guide conversations around transition, career exploration, and building the next chapter with intention and confidence. Structured around movement, camaraderie, and purpose, the program offers a low-pressure, high-trust environment where lasting relationships form, insights emerge, and veterans gain both clarity and community for the road ahead
